In this kind of situations is very important that the player with the ball is in the middle. There are two options how to achieve this. The player can pass the ball to his teammate in the middle of the pitch or he can run with the ball to the middle and his teammate makes the opposite run. The second option is much better because with such a move defenders get more confused and they have more difficulties to defend. Putting the ball in the middle of the pitch is important because shoots from there are more likely to be successful than from the sides and defenders don’t know if the player will shoot or pass the ball to his teammate(s) on the side. The middle player has always much more solutions than players on the sides. Below is a video of a properly made counterattack even if the finishing pass is not very accurate but they score anyway.
Firstly it’s advisable to tell the defenders to just stay near the opponent and not try to steal the ball. Doing this the attacking players get the feeling how to move an pass the ball. When players are confident with the moving the defenders can became more active. The drill can be made on the left or right side of the futsal pitch.
The player (1) at the center of the pitch starts the drill by passing the ball to his teammate on the left or right (in our case) side of the futal pitch. After passing the ball player 1 runs forward a few meters and then turns back to the spot where he started the drill. At that time player 2 passes the ball back to him. Player 1 can now pass the ball even to player 2 or to player 3 on the opposite side of the futsal pitch. After passing the ball he runs forward and than stops like he will came back to the spot where he started the drill, but instead of running back he runs forward slightly to the right or left side of the futsal pitch (depending on which side he passed the ball before), at that time player 4 runs on the opposite side of player 1 and player 2 (or 3) passes the ball on the side to player 1, which shoots on the second post, where player 4 is making a run.
The second finalist is Spain who won 1:0 against Italy (Aicardo 7.)
