2nd match day

In the first match today Italy won 3:1 against Turkey, the scorers were Ippoliti (7. and 30.), Gabriel Lima (37.) for Italy and Yasin Erdal (2.) for Turkey. Turkey fought very well but couldn’t succeed over great Italy.

In the second match Portugal won 4:1 against Azerbaijan, the scorers were Cardinal (3.), Felipe (4. o.g.), Marinho (26.) and Ricardinho (38.) for Portugal and Farajzade (7.) for Azerbaijan. Portugal proved they are a very good team but Azerbaijan could get more out of the game with a bit of luck in front of the goal.

Futsal EURO 2012 started

The Futsal EURO 2012 has finally started. Today were played two matches, one in group A between Croatia and Romania and one in group B between Spain and Slovenia. The first match of the tournament was in the Arena Zagreb at 19.00.

Current European champions Spain won 4:2 against struggling Slovenia. The scorers were: 0:1 Miguelin (15.), 1:1 Fetič (17.), 1:2 Aicardo (26.), 1:3 Torras (29.), 1:4 Torras (30.), 2:4 Mordej (37.). Slovenia showed really good resistance against European Champions Spain, but the experienced Spanish team managed to break the opponent in the second half by scoring 3 goals in 4 minutes.

The second match was played at 21.00 in the Spaladium Arena. Hosting team Croatia managed to won 2:1 against Romania who had several chances in the first half but didn’t score. In the second half Croatia started taking control over the match. They scored in the 23. minute with Marinović and after missing some really great scoring opportunities they get cached by the Romanian team in the 30. minute with Alpar. Croatia then started to play better and managed to score the winning goal with Grcić in the 35. minute. Romania tried to play with five players on the pitch but didn’t succeed.

I would like to mention that if you looked at the games you could see some actions that are described in my previous posts:
– The Romanian team performed a corner kick that is described – here – look for corner kick C.

– The second goal Croatia scored was similar to the action described – here

Another thing I would like to share with you is a pdf file where you can find descriptions of all teams, players and referees participating at the Futsal EURO 2012, descriptions of both the venues where the tournament is taking part and also a lot of other useful information about Futsal EURO 2012 – click here for the file – the file is taken from the official Futsal EURO 2012 website.

Highlights from Italy

On our facebook page we added the highlights from 5th match day in Italian Serie A. On the video you can see lots of goals, some really good plays but I would like to show you some stuff you might not notice. First of all when looking at those kinds off videos most people look only at the ball. This is not so bad if you just want to see the goals, but if you want to learn something from the video you have to look wider. For example look at the players who don’t have the ball how they move and make place for their teammates. You can learn a lot of things by watching the video carefully and more than one time. When you think there is something interesting stop the video and look the play again. By doing this you can learn lots of new plays, new moves and see how players move in different situations.

I invite you to look at the video carefully and comment on whatever you find interesting (plays, tactics, saves), just add the time when this happened in the video. To start I will point out two things. The first starts at 4:57, the team is playing with their goalkeeper and they make a really good play, but the goalkeeper saves the shot. It is an interesting move I intend to comment in my future posts. The other thing I would like to show you starts at 11:50. It is an interesting way of positioning the goalkeeper on free kicks. This time it wasn’t successful, but is certainly to consider when positioning on free kicks.
